December 4, 2008

Wow, bet you didn't think I'd have another post so soon.  Well, thank you everyone for your concern and well wishes, I'm hacking up a storm.  My co-workers are planning a hoop cover for my cubical, I think they called a quarantine tent, but same difference.  Actually they kept making snide comments and telling me to go home.  They didn't appreciate the humor when I asked them which of them would do my work while I was recovering?  We're all swamped.  Have you found that the various Quil medications don't do quite as much as the commercials say?  Anyway, this is a gardening blog.

I'm reading the book on the bus, though frankly this book is boring me.  I'd rather spend my time reading forums and learning and helping folks.  Of course I'll finish it, and I hope to learn tons from it, but get to the point man!  hehe.

One interesting point he made today, I don't know how well it would work or if it's of value to anyone, but apparently you can winter garden under two hoop covers.  Or a hoop cover with a floating row cover under it.  It's an interesting concept, though in my area that is so cloudy all the time, I'd worry that the plants would get ANY sun at all under two covers.  I can't hardly see through the plastic I use anyway, though I'm sure some light gets through.  Definitely worth checking it out, especially if you're in one of those low number zones that get really cold.

So, why did I post tonight. It's late, I am Nyquil'd up and getting ready for bed, but I just had to share.  Proud papa moment...

On one of the several trips to quiet my boys as they played and rough-housed instead of going to sleep after bedtime, my 4 year old calmly asks to tell me something. He asked me if he could garden with me tomorrow morning.  Ahhh, isn't he sweet!  My little gardener.

Enjoy your garden, with your family...

  1. Don't you just love the little ones.

I guess we'll get to know our garden bloggers a little better over the winter since there's not as much to talk about in the gardening arena.

I know a woman who swears by cider vinegar and honey to cure a cold, the flu, just about every ailment known to man. I can't remember the last time I had a cold so I haven't had a chance to try it.

    Feel better.

  2. Sinfonian, our children are of an age with each other. We were out to eat last weekend and the boy (4) shouted he wanted some lettuce...paused...and said, "never mind. It's not the same."

  3. OH! I almost forgot...

Feel better! I'm sure you guys put vaporizors/humidifiers in your children's rooms. If you're hacking, it will work for you as well!!!
