March 23, 2009

ARGH!  I'm a failed gardener.  I have gotten nothing done in almost a week.  It's insane. Not that I don't want to be gardening.  I need it badly.  It just hasn't fit into my schedule.  One day soon you will see a post where I just went for it and stopped what I was supposed to be doing and ran screaming out into the garden to harden off my lettuce or something.  I really need to do that soon before I start havesting from my soil blocks. hehe

Sorry, nothing to post this evening.  Though I guess I can say that while at the auction Saturday, I grabbed the catering trays that held the hot water to keep the food warm.  They're five inch deep aluminum pans.  I figure they'll do well under my lights to hold my taller seeldings.  The cool part is since they're aluminum, they'll reflect the light back up to the plants.  And I've got tons of them.  I think it's pretty cool.  My wife just think's I'm crazy. Hehe

I'd take a picture of them, but it's late, I've been entertaining all day and I've got to hit the sack.  Again, sorry for slacking.  I really WANT to have interesting garden stories to tell.

  1. I hope you can "schedule" time for yourself to work on garden items soon. Some weeks (months?) are just overwhelmingly full with other obligations and they just have to take precedence for a while. But hopefully, you can reclaim some time for yourself very soon.

  2. Oh I so know what you mean. I JUST got my first plants started 2 days ago. I really wanted to stick to a schedule for optimum growth but life kept interfering. Sometimes you just gotta schedule the time, like D said. Designate a day and stick to it. Easier said than done, though.

  3. Sounds like you're ready for some gardening! I always try to check the garden while letting my dog out of her cage for a bit. Multi-tasking is the only way that I get all of my stuff done.

  4. I ignored my responsibilities (and the rain, and the cold) and spent the last couple of days digging and hammering and throwing rocks around. Now if I could just figure out topsoil supply and if it would just...stop...raining (just for a tiny little bit of time!).

  5. My potatoes are up! Well one of them is...Oh I wish this cold spring would give way to warm. It's so frustrating. You are probably doing the right thing to do other things for a while.
